Bio & Information

Patty deGrandpre / artist bio & cv

Patty deGrandpre became an artist by drawing houses without walls; it came naturally to her to focus on what was inside. Her unbound visions from childhood have since grown into mature works of abstract art. Patty’s unique compositions and color combinations aim to make the viewer look closer and again, as she hopes they may discover a little more each time. A mixed media artist, Patty enjoys working with letter forms, bodies of type, layered and manipulated images. She also considers herself a printmaker. She often creates her work in pairs and families using a combination of traditional printmaking techniques and unconventional mediums such as carbon paper, vellum, drafting film, inkjet ink, & her typewriter. Patty earned her Bachelor’s of Fine Art in Visual Design in 1987 from Southeastern Massachusetts University and currently resides in Beverly, Massachusetts with her husband in a house that has walls.
